Dietary Guidelines For Psoriasis / Good Gut Health

Being overweight & obese put you at risk of Psoriasis, maintain a healthy weight and loose it by improving Gut Health. This is the healthiest way to align your mental and physical balance. Stress, anxiety and poor digestion are inter-related.

Dietary Guidelines For Psoriasis

Your Choice Makes A Difference

If your tummy is even slightly bloated it should ring alarm in your mind that your Gut Health needs attention.

Leave:

Refined Sugar (Do not replace it with sugar free tablets)
High sodium snacks, packed food and beverages.

Tea & Coffee Prepared In A Healthy Way

I will never advise you to leave tea & coffee as they are energy drinks if prepared in a healthy way. If you prefer milk tea, it should always be with minimum of sugar, say almost bland. If you prefer milk in coffee, it should always be bland. Please live life without packaged snacks and beverages.
Avoid fried foods or sweets completely-even home-made high sodium fried daily snacks and sweets should be avoided. You can consume them once a month as a reward.

Learn to say no to recycled oil, saturated fats and trans fats. Once you fry anything in oil, just dump it after use. Re-using it is even more harmful than smoking.
Cooking Medium – Unsaturated Oil- Seeds & nuts.
Carbs- Whole grains, fruits & vegetables-1 Gm of such carbohydrate=3 Gm of water.
Explanation:
The processed foods are carbohydrates and they have a tendency to hold water in our body. We have 70% of water in our body, apart from that if we consume carbohydrates through packaged foods, canned food, drinks and beverages then it holds some extra water in our body. 1 Gm of such carbohydrate=3 Gm of water. So this creates additional water weight in our body the result of which is that by the end of the evening we get to see Edema in our fingers, over the ankles, heels and the body also bloats. Then the next morning we feel that swelling is gone, it is because of the consumption of these things since it has started right from your childhood becomes a daily feature with which you get used to. So, when this happens you just overlook it but in real its an alarm through which your body tells you that your gut health is totally damaged.
Refined Carbs – Processed, packaged food with high sodium and sugar.

How Much Complex Carbs Should Be Consumed Daily?

*2 Gm of complex carb per kg body weight.
For Example- If you weigh 60 kgs then the quantity of complex carbs you should consume is 120 Gm.

Like saturated fats, trans fats are also bad for our health. They raise LDL cholesterol (Bad) and lower HDL (Good) cholesterol.
When unsaturated fats (veg oils) are heated to high temperatures by food industry, the oil converts to trans-fat. They are present in pastries, cookies, cakes, biscuits, crackers and fried foods. If you see the word- ‘Partially Hydrogenated Fat’ it is a sophisticated term meant for trans fats and even if you don not see this term, it is best to avoid low cost foods.
